I never thought I'd go on the internet and promote a company, but here I am.

About a month ago I was in a wreck that totaled my 95 Miata. I was so lucky that 6 weeks prior to that I had switched my insurance to Hagertys. I was paying $60 a month for a $8000 stated value policy. This is what I was paying for straight liability insurance with my old company.

Less than a week after my wreck I had a check for the full amount. Going far past the financial aspect, the claims agent has been by far and away the most helpful customer service person I've ever dealt with. The wreck is a nightmare from the insurance company with 4 companies involved (mine, my buddy who was driving us back to the shop he works at, the shops, and the other cars). I've been keeping track and so far the agent has spent over 20 hours on the phone with me, deciphering not only Hagerty's policy, but all of the other policies as well. She has 3 way called each of the other companies to help me get clarification. I have to be the lowest value costumer ever insured by hagerties. They got a whopping $90 bucks from me and are treating me like a king with a hundred million dollar car collection. I can't recommend them enough.

All of the GRM crowd should check them out. It took a little convincing for them to cover my Miata, but when I said it was modified and used for "racing" (autocross) they covered it.

A customer of ours has a V8 Miata - a show-quality car that we built and he took to the next level - that was recently popped in the nose. It's insured with Hagerty.

They're paying to have the repairs done with a complete new paint job AND they're shipping the car from Canada to Colorado so we can do the repair work. I'm impressed. I've had Hagerty for years for my classics but never needed to place a claim.

The only claim I ever had with Hagerty was years ago when one of the springs on my garage door cracked over one extremely cold night and fell right onto the hood of my 2002, denting it. I called, sent a couple of photos of the very hard-to-photograph dent (long but shallow), and they covered a brand new hood from BMW and matched paint done by the specialist shop of my choosing, no questions asked.

Have Hagerty on my Opel GT. Fortunately haven't had to file a claim.

I didn't realize you could pay by the month. I looked into having them cover the M5 but didn't because I couldn't come up with the 6 month premium. I'll have to look at them again. Thanks

I got a quote for just the Corvette, but unfortunately due to some household accidents and a pretty large performance award by me, it's crazy expensive compared to my current payments.

Da Boss has all of his "toys" insured through Hagerty. He told me that I should get my RX-7 covered through them but the garage requirement made it a no-go.

His premiums are incredibly low. I think on three performance cars, he pays less than I pay for liability only on ONE of mine.

I never had to file a claim, but if they would insure my 92 Volvo I would sign up with them again in a heartbeat. Great rates and customer service

I get online to get a quote for my 1985 Celica and my car doesn't show up in the drop downs... I'd love to have them unsure it.

Side thought- does it have to be "your garage" that its stored in? Could I claim its stored in a neighbors?

I have Midlana (one-off specially-constructed vehicle) insured through them. Haven't had to make a claim but they were the most easy to deal with when ensuring the car, and the rate was very reasonable. Good to hear they're a standup company when it comes time to make payouts. I didn't know that they insure newer cars.

You'll probably have to provide proof. But they cherry-pick special cars to cover, and special cars are kept inside. Can't even store them at our shop, the boss had to show that both his 2002s can be parked in his home garage at the same time.

I know insurance rates vary a LOT, but 60x12/8000 means something like 9% of the value of the car per year. Is this considered good? Should I use a different metric?

I'd like to know why haggerty will insure a Miata but flat out refused to insure my modified E30 on the grounds they made too many.

I mean I've never looked up how many E30's were built compared to miatas but I very seriously doubt less miatas were built. In my area(in the frozen north no less)I see several miatas a day in the summer vs and average of maybe 2 or 3 e30's a summer.

Ok rant off, glad you were looked after so well...maybe I'll try them again in the spring as my insurance company charges me close to a grand and tells me the max payout will be $1200

They would not insure my FJ60 because it was not "collectible" yet. The Chevelle was fine.

I tried to get a couple of cars insured through them with no luck due to a speeding ticket. Both times I called in they were great to deal with. I probably should try them again since its been around 4 years I had that ticket.

This is a pretty spectacular Miata, not just a bit modified It's one of about two dozen. It may be a judgement call on the part of the agent.

I would speculate that Hagerty may well distinguish between pro-shop-built cars like an FM V8 Miata and DIY modifications. Justifiably or not, people tend to expect that pro-built cars are done to a higher standard, so they often retain additional value over the starting point car, whereas DIY mods are usually worth negative money when you try to sell it.

They're covering my LS swapped 951. Not cheap, but I have it insured for quite a bit. Haven't had to have any dealings with them besides me paying them every year...
