I hope you're not serious. That thing is HIDEOUSLY overpriced, at best.

$3-4k car at best.

Timing belt overdue for replacement.

That's cheap for a turbo in these parts. Locally, you'd be lucky to find one with a blown engine and RHD for 3k, and clean stock turbos are in the low teens. If it's as clean as it appears in the pictures, and I came across one at that price, I'd be very, very seriously considering it - prices have been on the rise for a while.

Perhaps you can locate a better deal for me? I'd be willing to drive a long ways for a clean stock turbo MR2.

Honestly I think it is underpriced for the NW. Yet the guy went buy the KKB 1993 pricing.

Thanks again.

I dunno... i guess i'm just going off the fact that it's a 91 (worst year) with not low miles at all, with an overdue timing belt, and probably went past the interval the first time it was done, too.

I guess they might be harder to come across in Canada or the PacNW areas, though? I just know i wouldn't even give that particular car a second glance.

$6k is 93+ territory if i'm looking at something with that kind of miles.

No price listed on this one, but i'd be ALL OVER this one, and i bet it's similar price. http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/3557985993.html

I like this one a LOT: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1991-TOYOTA-MR2-TURBO-TBAR-NICE-UPGRADES-SERVICED-FLORIDA-CAR-DVD-PLAYER-/230913837967?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item35c3898b8f

This car won't see $5k: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1991-White-JDM-Turbo-MR2-T-Top-/150983456875?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item232750b86b

Don't listen to them, that's cheap for a car that nice. It's very difficult to find one that's not messed with, and extremely difficult to find one with leather that nice. If it were on this side of the US, I'd buy it tomorrow. Most of them have been riced to oblivion and back.

I owned one for 7 years when they were new, and put almost 160k miles or so on it. I eventually rebuilt the engine when the hose from hell blew, afterwards it dynoed at 300rwhp with appropriate mods. Once inside, the cylinders were perfect still and still showed the cross-hatch.

I still have the wheels from when I autocrossed it sitting at the house, which my wife wants me to put on the street for the trash guy. I still want another one, so they're staying put a while longer. We ran a track day with our IT 240Z once, and for fun, I ran a few laps in the MR2T (still with stock motor and suspension), and it was a couple of seconds faster per lap at TGPR.

The real issues with it are the hose from hell, a small coolant line on the back side of the motor, cracking manifolds, rear tire wear, and the difficulty in replacing the timing belt. Changing to stiffer springs and bushings though really wakes up the chassis and I consider them a must do on the '91's and '92's.

Lately these have been on the rise, and I've watched several nice low mileage ones creep into the $15k range, although $10k should put you into one of the best. If I were pricing this one, I'd do $7 to $8k since the mileage is a bit high.

Having searched for a hardtop 5-speed a while back, I'd say the price doesn't seem that bad. Finding clean MkIIs is hard, but I will say there's nothing rare about that combination of options. I think 90% of all MkIIs are red 91s, and that one appears loaded with options, so it's likely to be as heavy as those cars can get.

I paid less for my 91 a year ago, but it's an NA.

Totally agree. This car is priced right. $5k would be a fair deal for that car. Supply of stock cars is low, and this is above average condition.

I've owned them all, and while 93+ is nice, the improvements are incremental. Bigger brakes are nice, but are a cheap and readily available bolt-on upgrade. Rear suspension geometry change is debatable. The later ones were popular in stock autox classes because of the 15" tire.

These are non-interference engines. The overdue timing belt is not a huge deal.

I'd say $5k is right.

assumed it was a ~80-100k item

Looks fairly decent for $4500-$5000. I would ask for receipts, also be sure to ask if the hoses from hell have been taken of.
