Thanks guys, I'm talking to Allstate at 10:30 then I'll call HAggerty. All I want is full liability, but I don't really care about the car that much. One day it might be worth the challenge budget, but now yet!

In Michigan it doesn't matter what insurer you have, the state MCCA fee is $175 a year per vehicle. In that light, the $300 a year I quoted above for a $7000 value policy is pretty good.

This, and in NC at least, you can get specialty car insurance. Locked garage, max mileage per year, set insured value, etc. Call around.

I got a quote of $425 per year on my 90 Miata. When I bundled it with my homeowners, it became $135 per year. Yes, I am a lot older than 25 and have a clean record.

Call an independent agency. The best deal will be where your house and other cars are insured. I quoted a friend for a 2004 Explorer. The company that would quote it as a stand alone policy was about $1800 annually. A different company that only writes auto if you have a home owner or renters policy was $1100, including the renters policy for his apartment. I have seen many similar things since I got involved in this wretched businessl.
