We took a trip to our local junkyard and got a new piece for the intake of the Subaru. They charged us $3.99 for "Engine-Misc." The piece isn't a Helmholtz resonator (bottle shaped reservoir perpindicular to the path of the intake, before the throttle body), it's more of an expansion chamber that's placed in series with the air box.
