It was worth a shot.
Look for our test in the June issue. We compare the CR-1 against the Yokohama A052 and Falken RT660.
In reply to David S. Wallens :
I've heard good things about them. The first thing I noticed when I unboxed them was that they are almost identical in tread pattern to the Pirelli Trofeo R.
What I want to know is, can they go 8 hours in an enduro environment? These hot 200tw's continue to move closer and closer to 100tw's.

Once again, GRM comes through with the content. Thanks!

I looked at the Mudstars and ended up with Nexen Roadian MTs, they don't look too overkill and I like them a lot

According to tiresize.com's incredibly convenient calculator, those would be 2.2% SHORTER than the stock 195/60-14 tires on my B2-chassis VW. Which already spins about 4000rpm on the Interstate.
24.7% more tread width, though Wonder if I can get Sport Quattro Ronal lookalikes in a 15x9 with 4x100.

Plenty early enough for the Challenge.
Nice to have a 200 TW tire war. Makes up a bit for losing Bridgestone as an option.
Love the look of those tires! 245 15, that’s my kind of tire! Short and fat!
Im looking forward to seeing the comparison.

Night and day from what I've heard. These are closer to the AR-1 in terms of grip and wear.
In reply to captdownshift (Forum Supporter) :
I heard a rumor that Nankang just took the AR-1 100tw compund and poured it in a new mold (that looks suspiciously like a Pirelli Trofeo R) and called it a 200tw tire, because treadwear ratings are a case of the fox guarding the henhouse.

I'll never make it to the Challenge.
Autocross season starts next month.
In reply to Duke :
And the rain date/possible last event is literally on the challenge date. My plan is to (hopefully) represent well down there.
Hmm, this might be something I need to consider. I've been planning to run the RT660 this year, but Tire Rack is sold out of 255/40 17 and not expecting additional stock until mid-May. In fact, pretty much all of the decent 200tw tires in that size are currently on back order there. Our season kicks off 5/1 and I'm signed up for a non-points event next weekend.
Currently have my name on a set of V730s due mid-April, but I can't seem to find any auto x reviews of those yet and I'm a bit wary based on what I've read on the V720. Anyone heard anything about the new Kumhos? Tempted to cancel my order and try these Nankangs instead.

Soon! (May 5, actually.) Testing took place last Friday, and right now the story is with the art department. I just sent Sarah the last piece for the story earlier today, in fact.

Anyone try these in an endurance race?
