So a friend of mine tells me here dad built a (Powered Parachute) using a 3 cylinder engine from a Geo.... Interesting, but even more so when I actually see it... SDS Standalone, Forged Internals, Garrett Turbo.... I'll get more pics, next time I'm over there... they also have some XR4's, a Galant VR-4, Scorpio's too :-D Uploaded with Snapbucket (Original) Uploaded with Snapbucket (Original)

I always wanted to sup up a Chevy Sprint Turbo or Turbo Metro engine just to see what it could do. That's pretty awesome!!!

What could possibly go wrong?

Forged internals? Push 25psi and see what happens... You're already wearing a parachute!

I wonder what kind of mileage that would pull at 100 to 110 hp levels in a car like a Miata, only with taller gearing so it isn't spinning too fast on the highway.

Probably similar to a stock miata engine with 100hp and taller gearing.

Don't think so.

That's a very common application. That and ultralights.

We have run those motors at 35 psi and made over 200 hp.

Well, you're definitely doing it wrong, then. lol

35 psi on a good setup should be making a lot more than 200 hp.....

By "over 200 hp" you mean "significantly over 300 hp," right?

But at what altitude?

I didn't mean at the same time. The 35 psi wasn't on the dyno, and there's a reason the pressure was so high. You can only flow so much air through that head. When one of my buddies dyno'd his, the power difference between 18 and 25 psi was negligible, and that was with a lot of cam, good head work, good intake, and a properly sized turbo. That's still 4 times the stock output.

Its from an XR4ti. His daughter has a pretty minty '86 XR, and her dad has an '87 that has close to 400hp.

I was gonna say the head was probably the restriction. Too bad no one makes an aluminum one, or has found one from another engine that bolts up to it... Hint hint hint...

Both factory heads are aluminum Trust me, it's been tried. One guy in south america chopped up a G13 dohc head and used it. I don't have that much time. The factory turbo motors make about 70 hp at 7.5 psi. I've either raced, built, or been involved in the build of some of the fastest G10 motors in the world. They are a VERY stout motor. One of the ones I raced at Maxton ran 20 psi boost (T3 turbo) at 9000 RPM on stock rods and pistons.

I'd like to know what these "forged internals" are.
