FWIW, having a patent doesn't mean it will be used. When I was there, the patents were used as leverage to get agreements and licenses. A way to get money from other companies, in other words.
Didn't we go over this several months ago? Car companies are constantly filing patents. Ford has absolutely nothing to gain by pissing off its customers.
