Have painted myself into a corner here. Have a fresh .020" over block. The pistons i wanted to run aren't currently available in .020" over.

Sourced .030" over pistons, will have to pay and get the block bored again i guess. Need rings. (One of the advantages to buying the other brand, could get pistons, rings, main and rod bearings all for $160 shipped, good brands.) Now i need to piece E36 M3 together and probably spend a bunch more.

Brands or things to look for or avoid when shopping for rings?

Kind of like is oil oil oil? There are only a certain number of manufacturers of rings, most of them being different labels under the Federal Mogul umbrella to fit the price point.

that isn't always the case........

Rings can be made from different compounds, requiring different honing procedures. Also ring selection can be by tension... some engines will have options of lower tension rings (less drag)

I'd say do a bit of shopping, and send a few emails out inquiring of the ring sizes you need... and what they offer....

In my size, it looks like i have my choice between ITM and Diamond Power.
