Yeah, they're pretty much on beater status now. Too much little stuff breaks on them that people don't bother to replace/fix. You can get a decent M3 for around $8k. I'd say that the price is worth it over a normal E36.

Haha, that's actually one of a few reasons I'm keeping mine. I've got a relatively nice 328is in a desirable color (avus blue) and there's no way I could get what I feel it's worth if I wanted to sell it. The cars are definitely in that weird middle ground of being too old but not yet collectible.
