So with this giant stigma right now about Toyota, are there smoking deals to be had?
Has anyone here actually gone to a dealership to see if they can get a huge discount?
What are all the dealerships that are taking Toyotas in on trade going to do with the fleet of undesirable cars?
Does anyone actually get a decent trade in value trying to trade one in?
I am semi-interested in buying something new with lots of seating. I seriously doubt a new Sequoia is going to drop in my price range, but the potential deals intrigue me.
I wonder if i can use this E36 M3storm to score an MR-S for cheap.
We are wholesaling ours the same as we were before Throttle Scare 2010.
If you start hitting CL I bet you will see a couple great Sheeple deals.

I'm wondering the same thing. there's an obnoxiously bright yellow one with the 6 speed SMT sitting on a used dealer lot relatively close to here
SMT < proper manual, I know, but it's still better than no MR-S at all I'd say

Yep.
A 2000-2001 Celica GTS 6m is fine, too.
It's never a good time to waste money on a toyota.... unless we'retalking late 80's early 90's.
Oh jeez Bob.
Admit it. You'd rock an MRS. Just say it.
For the record, i agree with you with very few exceptions. The last Celica GTS and the MRS being the exceptions.
But yes. There is not a single model in their current line up that keeps me from snoozing.
Last time i went to the stealership to grab some hardware for the Smellica, they tried to get me into a new car.
"Check this Corolla S out! It's sporty! Right up your alley, you drive a Celica, right?"
I then pointed out my car.
"Do you have anything like that? I don't want a/c, nav, leather, power windows or locks, automatic, or worse gas mileage?"
The guy at the parts counter lost it laughing. (He's known me for about 2 years now as i slowly rebuild this thing from ground up.)
Actually, the cars we're still selling are going for higher prices than they were before all of this. Somehow the sellable Toyotas are in higher demand. It's baffling to me but, hey, I need people to buy cars so I can write loans for 'em so I won't complain.

I have to agree with Bob. I used to be a Toyota nuthugger like several on this board. I owned a couple of MR2s, MKII and IV Supras, 3rd gen Celica GT-S, etc, but they lost me mid 90s. I can't support the MRS either.....it has no legroom....my MR2s had tons of legroom, so I'm not sure what the hell Toyota was thinking. Plus I preferred the hard top and t top roof options in the MR2.
owning a late 90's Rav that caught fire, and needed thousands in parts alone to repair at 80k miles and working the backside of toyota themselves I watched their quality drop lower and lower. I mean, when car rags have had the Koreans on top of Toyota in quality and fit and finish since mid 2000's, that should have been their wake up call. Instead, they buried their heads deeper into the sand hoping people would keep drinking the koolaid and buy because of their name.
The same tactics that brought down the big 3.

I've had similar conversations with other dealers / brands. There's not one new car on the market I both want and can afford.

The only ones in recent memory for me are:
Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo (But i won't, because like Bob hates Toyota, i hate chevy)
Saturn Sky Redline (Might still, but won't stop thinking about how i could have dusted it for a quarter of the price in a Miata)
That's really it. I don't like anything else. At all. Well... the IS-F, but i can't afford that.
I don't think i've really LUSTED after anything made in this century, besides the MRS.
93celicaGT2, i can totally understand the support for the MR-S. I would grab one today if i could afford to have a second car. All my experience is in ZZ engines since i've had my Matrix for the last 6.5 yrs.

Yep. An MRS will likely be my next car. I'm done waiting, they've come down plenty in price. I'd get a Miata (still might) but i want something different.
Besides... it's screaming for a 2zz swap, and the 2zz is a bad bitch.
Lust after? New Genesis Coupe, Forte Koup, Solstice GXP, G8 GXP and the GTO, 04 mdel

yeah.....I know a lot that I like....WRX, EVO, 370Z. I missed that "can afford" part though.......$750.00/month is a large nut to swallow.

Yeah, i can definitely understand those, and DEFINITELY won't tell you that you're wrong, just not really my thing.
The Genesis Coupe, and Solstice are close, just not QUITE there. The Sky Redline got an edge from me just because i happen to like the way it looks better. That's all.
Actually. I lied. I LUST after an RX8, MSM, and the MR-S. The MR-S just happens to be the most intriguing to me.
Cobalt SS Turbo, Sostice GXP Coupe, Sierra Short-box. Again, like, can't afford...
But you're a wee little fella Ben.

That's why i like light cars... i get an acceleration advantage over everyone else.
But i am not as wee as i once was. Yes, i'm still short(ish), which makes it easy for me to fit in ANYTHING, but i'm starting to lose my weight advantage.
HOLY E36 M3.
$6200 MR-S on Ebay right now. DO WANT.
I race "NASCAR" style, up close to the dash and on top of the wheel. I drive a bit more "Italian" I am 6'3" @ 285lbs (again) but as large as I sound most of my mass is across my wingspan, I have a 56" chest and long arms.
Ah... i don't like being on top of the wheel, and i like having my leg almost 100% extended when i push in the clutch. Luckily, my torso is pretty long (i only have 30" inseam) so i don't really give up any visibility.
