RexSeven is spot on with his comments above. I own 2 FC RX7's--one for street and one for the track. Properly maintained, they are very reliable cars. Make sure you run it to redline at least once a day--it is good for them.

It isn't crazy to want an RX-7, even with back seats.
I have kids (6 and 10 now) and I sold my RX-7 (which didn't have back seats) and got an RX-8. It's a better car for street duty in every way possible (except gas mileage). They can be had in running condition for $5k.
Keep in mind that the parts for the FC RX-7 are still available from Mazda- for now. I wouldn't count on that for much longer.
It's a little crazy to want one for dd if you're going to keep it for several years with growing children. I would get a 4 cylinder E36 or a Corolla . If someone needs to be unhappy it should be her! (joking)
