The vermont loophole isn't what it used to be. I succeeded in this two years ago getting a mustang that some farmers never gave me a title before. I wasn't mad because I knew they wouldn't and I always wanted to try this trick. But last year vermont now requires "out of state verifications" if you try it the old way. So it still works, sort of. But I'm in a similiar boat again with a car and this time lets try South Dakota. I mailed them a copy of my license, ss card, insurance, I did have to have a physical title and I mailed them that as well. And a bunch more forms. My logic is I have a salvage title and apparently you can register salvage titles in SD.
