I see no reason for me to possibly buy this...

I'm confused why you think there is a reason you should NOT buy it.

Say for instance you like the color blue. That is one reason you can buy it. Im sure there are others.

Well it sure isn't a 240. Buy it anyhow. NOW.

Probably lots of reasons but none of us can think of any. I think the correct term for those of us on here is "enablers."

FWIW - I love all RWD Volvos and the boxier the better.

For $900 why would you even take the time to ask?

Hey, check out Readers' Rides for my new hooptie. C'ya!

Wait, did you just post a note in the GRM board asking reasons NOT to buy a car?

Any reason you'd think that someone would answer, "yea- don't"?

Well, then, Miata.

I have bad memories of the 1969 142 I owned... It had emission type SU HS6 which was a ROYAL PITA compared to the earlier non emissions type SU HS6. I never did get them set up correctly and sold the car to get out from under

If you rearrange the letters in "Volvo," it spells "buy me" in Swedish.

Don't be a silly person -- buy it...

I honestly have no reason to own it besides probably ending up doing TSD's in it... and I'm not nice to cars when I do TSD's. I already have the 242GLT, but that car was bought for $200 and needs some work. I'm very torn on this issue.

A 50,000 mile ,vintage Volvo and you have to ask? Do some of us need to come up there and beat some sense into you?

Personally I think it has either one too little or two too many doors. That said, if it were in my neighborhood I'd BUY IT RIGHT NOW

71 144? Watch the river crossings! (suitcase sized box under driver seat is the ECU - as I remember)

Thank you.

The "I'll drive it hard on TSDs and maybe the carbs won't work in winter" excuse won't hold:

Yes, that's a TSD rally car, up in Canadia, in winter (well, November -- we were in snow up high).

Been there, done the Thunderbird TSD in a $250 1980 Toyota Corolla liftback. Bought it, changed the oil/air filter, put on used 13" studded cambodian tire winters, and drove it over 4000kms in a weekend. With 3 people and all of their stuff. Through the mountains to get there. I did a drift at 130km/h on the equivalent of a L5 note in roger's pass. Good times

There is a big difference between getting a carb'd car started once or twice (or hell, three times) during a TSD, and having it start everyday when it drops down to -50*C in Edmonton :P There is also a big difference between a carb'd 1980 toyota corolla and a dual stromberg carb'd 1971 Volvo ;)
