Import Lounge used to be pretty rad, but I guess they’re gone. When I was shopping for a new DD a few years ago there were some REALLY nicely done cars. The one that sticks in my head was a K(?) swapped CX that had been stripped bare & painted. Full interior, AC, wire tuck, suspension, etc, and I think the guy wanted $5-7k for it.

Anyway, are any forums like this still around? I searched HT classifieds today, and it was mostly overpriced junk.

I haven’t seen any nicely done Hondas in a while.  All their cars have been engine donors, not recipients, for the last 15 years.  Everything else is aging out after it’s 7-8th owner and possibly 3-4th  engine swap.

I’ve been casually scouting for an MR2 project for a while and there just aren’t many left.  Overpriced junk and appreciation are the same thing, I guess.

The newest good honda is 18 years old.  And i assume most have been beaten into the ground or stolen at this point.

Can confirm on the good ones being stolen front. Had two of mine stolen. Pretty much forced me to give up on the double wishbone Hondas.

Will a '95 Civic Ex Coupe in mint factory condition become the new collectable?

I had a black bought new. It really was a fantastic all around car.

In my searches I saw one listed somewhere for 30-something, and some crackhead pricing on plain jane EF/EG’s because it was “rare” due to the fact that it was stock. Also, a lot of dreamers who think their clapped out/every plastic panel broken or missing 1st gen CRX is worth $3-5k.

The thing is, these people are getting that much for their busted up CRX.  So that kind of makes them worth that much.  :(

I'd love to see a marketplace for NICE modded, swapped, etc. cars that is *not* BAT.  Like cars for <$10k, but not ongoing projects, wrecks, basket cases, etc.

You know, something in between what BAT started as and what it has become.

Sigh...

I feel like Hemmings can have some of this sort of thing if you're willing to wade through pricey stuff. That and watch EngineSwapDepot for some of their for sale posts.

Maybe in California, but not here. The same dude has had his $300 crx for sale for $3500 on CL for a year now. If junk 1st gens are worth $3k, I’m sitting on a berkeleying goldmine. cheeky

Any 1st gen CRX that still has the floors attached to the sills is worth at least $1500.

And yes, I have seen them where the floors were almost completely separate... and one of them, the guy was happy he stole it for $1200.

"Solid" 89 CRX. You just have to travel to the middle of the 4th largest state.

$700 in Helena

If you don't need your CRX to be stock, buying a prepped ST* car is by far the best option.

They usually trade around $5k.  https://wichita.craigslist.org/cto/d/1988-honda-crx-si/6628886844.html

I would very much like to know of such a place for nice swapped Hondas, but everyone is correct that the good ones are now min of 18 yrs old, have you considered a swapped Fit they are as close to driving a double wish bone car as I have found.

I think most people end up parting the cars b/c people won't get what they ask for. I know I rather crash mine at the track and part it out myself than dealing with most Honda "people". Sucks, cars are great, but a lot of the people suck to deal with whether its sketchy people or people not willing to pay for the quality parts.

I became the new owner of this 1998 Civic DX hatch with a B16a swap in March; I think you have to know someone now.  It had been a friend's track day car for about 10 years but she lost interest about 5 years ago, so the car has basically sat with only enough driving to keep things happy.  Full stock interior, ac, power steering, am/fm/cd/aux.  It also came with the stock steel wheels and hubcaps, as well as an Autopower 4 point bar and barely used 5 point harnesses.  The car runs great and has become my daily driver and autocross toy.  That said, everything is for sale for the right price smiley

Daily Turismo does kind of fit that niche, but they haven't run very many Hondas.

Honda facebook groups are probably the best bet. Basically CL but more active, at least in my area. Tons of cheap/terrible stuff but it's probably had the most decent cars at reasonable prices.

You'll need to log in to post.
