While at the office today, I came out of a meeting to see half the people in the office gathered in front of the windows. Naturally, I walked over to see what was doin'. I was greeted to this scene on the street below (sorry about the trees):

This is what appears to be a brand new BMW M5 Touring and a slightly used Lamborgini Gallardo Superleggera. They were both unloaded from a carrier right in front of the office, probably for some trust fund baby or influencer that lives around here in one of the ultra luxury condos; this kind of thing happens all the time here. But that begs the question: is this the ultimate two-vehicle garage?
I mean, it's in the argument: The BMW to haul the family/groceries/etc, and the Lambo to have fun and cruise in on the weekends and do track stuff. Kinda hard to go wrong here, unless you need a truck. But you could do some Truck Stuff with that wagon, too.
All I know is that I'm not a huge fan of that Isle of Man Green. It's not doing it for me, but YMMV, of course.
I’m still happy with my two-car garage solution: NA Miata, M3 and 911. (The Miata goes in the corner sideways and, yes, it’s tight.)
Love to hear others perfect setups.

I'm mostly happy with my 3-vehicle fleet of The Efficient Daily (Kia Forte GT), The Truck (Dodge Power Wagon) and The Fun One (Trans Am). Just wish the truck and fun one were less rusty, but I'm working on that. That said, given the opportunity (aka, winning the lottery), the M5 Touring/Lambo combo would be amazing.
I think that's a pretty solid pairing, if not a high-end one.
Currently, my ideal pairing would be something like a more-efficient-than-fun daily (preferably a wagon, but it'll probably end up being an SUV) and a more-fun-than-efficient weekend car.

That combo wouldn't make my "Top 10" list. I currently have an R53 MINI, an ND-RF, and a Canyon. Trade the truck off for a minvan and I'm close to perfect. If my wife weren't looking, I'd add a 2000ish Hyundai Accent on coilovers, with some rally lights for some backroad rally hooning, but I prefer to remain married at this age.
I dunno, I think DocWyte's is pretty universal and tough to beat in the 'attainable-ish' dream 2 car garage- Cayenne turbo S to go along with his 911 Turbo... Although the new M5 wagon is pure sex on 4 wheels, I fully admit.
I'm a fan of wagons, but I prefer the Audi option to the BMW one.

Family car + 2-seater may work as a 2-vehicle garage for a somebody with a spouse or kids, but not so much a spouse and kids.
I already own one piece of my 'ultimate' garage... My F150. For what I want and need a vehicle to do, there is no better tool. I wouldn't trade it out for anything else, even if I became a billionaire tomorrow.
The second needs to be whatever kid/crap hauler my wife likes. Which is a generally just a compact AWD CUV form factor, like her current Forester.
So our 'ultimate' 2-vehicle garage would probably look a lot like it does now: Function over form. For us, it doesn't get fun or interesting until the third vehicle.
If those are the brands and configurations we're choosing from, I'd go for an e34 M5 touring and a Lamborghini Miura.

I think I agree. The RS6 Avant is not only one of the best looking wagons ever, it might be one of the best looking vehicles ever. They are very high on my lottery list. I'd take one over the M5 Touring all day.
Managed to stuff 2 NA miata, a Fit, and an e30 coupe into a 2.5 car garage many time, there was a few feet of overlap and had to climb out passenger side sometimes.
I'd go with something that could tow for 1 and something that could track for another. Porsche Cayenne and M4 maybe?
It's like they filled out the order sheets wrong. Dangit, the lambo was supposed to be electric green and the wagon beige!!
I'm quite pleased with our Crosstrek and Boxster. A bit more attainable too
I wouldn't own either one of them. I do like wagons but German wagons and supercars leave me cold.
My garage is going to be much different.
I'm going to have something off-road capable.
I'm going to have something with some towing capacity.
I'm probably going to have something sporty.
Currently, that consists of an H3T for off-road, a VW Touareg for towing, and a Mustang for the fun of it.
With that money it would probably be an f250, trailer and gt3-rs

This, always a truck and a fun car.
I have a 3 car garage right now but a Gen 3 Raptor, 2005 S2000, and a Sequoia give me the ability to tackle almost anything I need. Fun Sunday/Track Day car, stupid fast truck that is great off-road too and can tow S2000, great off-roading Sequoia that can also fit the kids and their friends, great for tailgating, etc - can also tow if needed.

No.
Too refined. There should always be a vehicle in the stable that makes you uncomfortable to drive. Loud noises, a less-than-perfect ride, and the ability to feel the changes in the road by the seat of your pants are far more important than a surgically sterile driving experience.
I'm pretty happy with mine- x5 40i with a tune and a c5. Ideally I need something that can tow and something fun to be towed.
If money wasn't an object, I'd probably have a hotter German SUV. X5M or Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT. Then for a fun car, something a little more extreme. A GT3RS is an easy answer, but I'd like something more raw I think. Maybe something like the Praga R1R? Maybe a Radical RXC GT-ROAD?

2021 Ford Mustang Gt manual
2019 Kia stinger 3.3tt RWD
We really don't need more than this, even with two kids. I'd like to add a truck to the fleet sooner rather then later though.

I thought my type r and sienna hybrid was perfect with 2 kids.

2021 Macan S and 2013 911. Perfect combo for us.
Stopped on the way home to pick up some takeout, and across the street, I was greeted with this very 1970's option for a two-vehicle solution:

I have my own variation on this with my own Trans Am and a Power Wagon in the "vintage 4x4" spot, so yeah, I approve!

Oh that's a good combo. I like this answer.

That's rad as heck.
