While it looks to me like this 240z was done well, I think $35k is waaaayy too much.

For that kind of money I want a lot more than "should make Xxx horsepower" and "engine reportedly has less than 45k kms ".
Sure is purdy though.

it's a hatchback.. can't hide her in the trunk
I think that's been on Ebay a few times. Check the classified of hybridz.org
Is it worth $35K? Probably, but you need to check the car out in person to tell how well it's been built. S30 Z prices are rising.

the engine picture is pretty... but like you said, it is one of those things were you need to see it in person, check out his documents, and take it for a spin

He actually said in his posting no test drives. While I can understand that, that's still kind of sketchy IMO if you want that amount of money.
Asking $35k is what I do when I really want to keep something but told my wife I'd sell it.
That is a pretty car... but $15k is more like it.

She's very much alive and in search of cocaine. Hence the price.
I'd say a good 20k if its really all done right and its running perfectly.
Just because he's got 35k into it, he thinks hes going to get 35k out of it.
not gonna happen.
Maybe if he had used the 26 trans and it was awd=]
I saw one on ebay that was awd actually (26) and it sold for around 25k iirc

I would be happy to sit in the driver's seat and let him drive.. but I would be more interested to know if it can idle properly and move at part throttle without hickups than what it is like at WOT when at redline

Underrated post.
I wondered about the estimated horsepower too, then it hit me he's probably had it dyno'd, but put the estimated flywheel horsepower instead of actual wheel horsepower (which I hope he actually knows).
Think of it this way, if you were about to embark on a project where the end result was going to be very much like this car, then how could you go wrong buying this as the "Donor" car?
It is a harsh lesson that people learn whenthey find out that their prized possesion is NOT worth the sum of the parts bought. Aftermarket parts will have over 100% markup, don't expect the buyer to cover that.
If you show up with $30k I'm pretty sure he'd let you drive the car. Hard to sell a car with no test drives at all.
You'll need to log in to post.
