I found a 72 Suburban in Phoenix. Looks like it's in great shape. No interior picks, but it's a Chevy. 350 with a 700R4, runs and drives They are asking $7,000. I'll bet you could get cheaper, but even at full price its seems worth it. Even if we hated it, we could easily get the money back selling it. These things simply do-not-exist in Chicagoland.
Talk me down. (Yeeeah...right)

Damn. That’s legit family cruising right there. If you can, do eeet!
Edited to add: umm, no interior pics because there’s no interior maybe? There’s some money there so ponder that part.

No interior pics cause there is no interior, from what I can see.
If it had a rough interior I'd happily pay $7k, but without one I'm a bit hesitant
You could sell the wheels to Dusterdb13 for recoup.
That era of Chevy truck is red hot right now, the price is probably good.

Took the words out of my mouth.
Even no interior, here its 7k easy
That paint job reminds me of 1991. I wonder how much mud is under that paint. It's in Phoenix now, but where did it come from?
Wipers are missing and the tires might be from '91 too.
My 78 came from Tucson. I Paid $4k for it in 2017. $7k for that era 'burb seems like a steal.

True. But a couple of seats, even out of a late model and you've got a Cruiser. I wonder about quarter panels full of bog. If it was blasted, but original paint, I'd feel better.
I might contact the guy and see if I can get a bit more info and pics.
Antenna hole unplugged also. Be willing to bet it's an unfinished restore. Lots of possibilities on why it's on the market now in that state.
There's not much interior to these things anyway. Seats, and...seats. Carpet and headliners were optional at best.
Its a decent deal , maybe the seats are in the shop , you can see from the background shot that he is working on old trucks.
I would think the back seat with the fold down flat brackets is the hard one to get ,
The address where it is is an upholstery shop on wrecking yard row near downtown Phx.

Condition equal to the images and its worth that all day long. Even here in the SE US where old trucks are plentiful that would be an easy flip for more.
Meh, who cares about the interior. Go to the junkyard and pull the full interior out of a Sequoia or modern Suburban and retrofit. Get the classic exterior look but actual modern comfort and seating support on the inside. Hell, my Raider has WRX seats in it, which are 1000x better than the stock Mitsubishi junk.
Old trucks had basically flat interior panels and door cards made of fiberboard or whatever. Easy to make your own and upholster them. I did that on my Raider, and it's far nicer than the originals.
For someone looking for a keeper, I could speculate. But for flipping it, you'll have to ask the guys that look at cars as investments, instead of actual car guys.
So...anyone in Phoenix willing to give it a look for me?

I'm not in Phx (about 2 hours away if the Hwy stays clear) but I've been trying to get down there for a couple errands and to look at a truck or 3. But life keeps getting in the way and trucks get sold before I can get to them. Also, the ugly weather is a comin. I can't promise to go yet but if I do go I'll look.
Have you looked at his other ads? His lack of description on the 72 says something.
Classic Suburbans are hot right now

As long as it has the dashboard, everything else is just seats and carpet.
I'm just going to point out the body gaps (or the places where metal meets metal).
Check it out in person. This looks like a project that was totally abandoned in 1992.
And don't ask me about pricing. I am an old hot-rodder and I'm jaded. The number of $500 ready-to-drive classics I have bought is extensive. Stuart and Yupididdit said it well... those are hot right now. Add in the Covid tax (project cars are off the chain expensive right now) and you might find that their $7000 price is actually "let's see if there are any suckers out there."
I'm seeing massive body assembly issues in those pics.
My honest opinion. If it's a driver that is ready to hit the road after you add some seats, $7000 is what they go for. What I want to say is, $3500 is what they go for, but this is a different world and all bets are off. If it's (judging by the wheels, tires, and color) a project that was abandoned in 1992 and "all it needs is a driveshaft, accessory/belt drive, some wiring, and brake plumbing," to me it's worth $1200.... or $2500 in pandemic dollars.

I had one of those for a while, they rust very, very badly, and almost all trucks of that eta are covered in body filler if they don't have the original paint. I think the front seat is the same as the truck one, the rear seat and suburban specific trim is hard to find and $$$$$$. There isnt much to the dashboard, and it's probably all still available aftermarket anyway. Also the rear floor is plywood.

Also, someone has shaved the heater box, and it has newer long water pump serpentine accessories, which is why the fan shroud is missing, because it came with the short water pump stuff and you would need an expensive big block fan shroud to fit the way it is.
These old SUVs are red hot in the collector market and will only go up in value. The vintage trailer market has also gone insane, which is further driving the vintage tow vehicle market,
