My MIL has a low mileage 2008 Nissan Maxima, nice car. She complains that the headlights are not as bright as when she bought the car. Hmmmmm... she is 87.

I looked, the bottom right one in the image is the headlight and there appears to be some dirt and small scratches on the global lens, I don's see how as it is behind a cover.

Thoughts, Experiences, suggestions?

NO! She is not moving in and I AM NOT chauffeuring!

Thank you.

Well, bulbs do dim slightly over age and UV can darken the plastic lenses.

Try new bulbs and a polishing kit.

In reply to Grtechguy:

I think he means the physical projector lens, behind the headlight lens is scratched/pitted somehow.

OP, If the car has HIDs, is the light white or does it have a red/pink hue to it? If so, the bulb is bad.

Clean the windshield. I bet she's having trouble seeing at night due to oncoming headlights reflecting off dirt or grease on the inside of the windshield. Doubly so if she's ever used Armour All or bought it from a seedy used car dealer.
