This turned up at my friend's garage. Hasn't been out of the barn since it ran a 13.3 at South Glens Falls Dragway in 1975.
Excellent patina, slight mold and that wonderful leaky brake fluid - junkyard smell about it.
I've got a chubby.

The plates are NY 1960. It has a worked 327.
Sorry David, but I couldn't wait for the Ran When Parked, but, well, you know.

Chubby x2.
That is so cool it makes me ill. I bet my Dad remembers it; he ran an awful lot of drag races in upstate NY before ummm...you know, kids and stuff.
Just so I can dream...is it for sale?

You can submit entrites for Ran When Parked online, too you know.

Its surprising how much of a car from 1958 is still left after living in new york for so long.
I hope the owner can get it driveable with the 327 and leave it just like that on the outside.
Slightly off topic....? My parents had a '58 Chevy when I was very young, my mother grew to hate that car so much (she felt it was THE biggest lemon), they my father was never allowed to buy a new Chevy again.
I read somewhere that the 58s were supposed to be the 57s, but GM ran out of time. Result: a quickie revamp of the 56s, leading to the immortal 57s we all know about, which were relatively high-quality because the assemblers knew what they were doing. The 58s, not so much.
But to return to the topic in progress... that green car is amazing.
One thing we've lost with modern race cars is the ability to gain patina gracefully. Hand-painted signage ages so well. Vinyl, not so much.

South Glens Falls Dragstrip was in South Glens Falls, exit 17 or so on the Northway about 40 miles north of Albany, NY.
It was run by a guy named Fat Jack. He used to run with my uncle, they all ran Pontiacs. Unk had a '62 Catalina with a tri-power.
Imagine a dirt covered with oil staging area. Also picture an oil covered dirt runoff at the end of the strip. Oy.
In high school I blew up a Corvair there, it closed in the mid - late 70s.
Don't have the Vair, but great memories.

David's got one, that's why I don't feel guilty about this.
Yeah, '57 Chevys might get all of the attention, but the '58 was pretty darn cool, too.
And you can send a high-rez image to me. I know a guy.

Has she aged as gracefully as that old lady?

Quoted for truth. I mean, seriously, in this modern age nobody would choose that ocean going vessel for a race car. But in 1958 that was a 'normal' sized car. No wonder imports gained popularity.

My '60 model with then same drivetrain and chassis weighs 4007 pounds (full interior).
It DOES NOT run 13's.
