Thought about building a kit car in that empty space? It sounds like that would scratch your itch to work on something and in the end you'd have something pretty unique. After reading the Exocet piece in the most recent issue I've got the bug.

Build something you want to ride, or maybe something silly for Mini GP (I have heard rumors of a class where the only rule is 12" wheels, there's your Ducati build >) Enter a RallyMoto with your GS, and get major hardcore moto cred by riding it there and back. Fly n' ride something incredibly questionable a long way. Figure out how to commute only on two wheels for a whole year and document it. Or, if you want a change of pace car build- do a challenge car!

All fantastic idears except the 20xx challenge car thing. I hate budgeting, and I hate car shows and drag racing so 2/3s of the event and the whole premise is dead to me.

I could do 2 wheel only even up here in PA winter except for the part where I have a wife that works, 2 kids who don't drive (yet) and 2 dogs. I need a car atleast 2-3x a week for the forseeable future.

Yes. I don't like the exocet - it's hideous when complete (but cool tech). An exocet with a beautiful glass body would be cool as would a Lotus7 or something from the FF catalog though. I occasionally see a decent sale of someone else's failed dreams but so far they have been far enough away to keep my wallet safe (remember... sold the trailer ;) )

I wouldn't sell many tickets anyway. I'm Irish and Welsh. It's never going to be a great show.

An inexpensive, light plated dual-sport for things like the Micheaux Dual Sport ride foxtrapper posted and/or maybe a stage rally is of great interest to me. Was it you who had the DRZ for $2.5k that was just a little too edgy for me to teach my oldest to ride on?

What about old tool restoration? Doesn't need to take up a lot of space and there is a ton of stuff out there, with a market to pass stuff on once you're sick of it.

ding ding ding! You can make a TIG out of an alternator. Classes would be cool, though.

Aren't you north of Michaux? There's some great ADV/dual-sport riding and groups up in the Tuscarora and Bald Eagle area.

This thread in particular: Bald Eagle Bastards thread

And this sub-forum in general: ADV northeast region forum

Get a new Fiata, buy go fast suspension stuff from Keith, enjoy installing the suspension bits as a mini-project, go have a blast in the hills on weekends.

So you already have a Wonderful Life. Maybe you've lost track of it. Maybe it needs some work. Maybe it needs a lot of work.

So go play. Go play with your family. Play with your kids. Play with your dog. Make love with your wife. Enjoy what you've got.

There are lakes you can rent a canoe on and go paddling with them all or just one. Putt Putt golf on a Saturday. Throwing a frisbee with the dogs and kids. A lovely dinner with your wife, and it doesn't have to be expensive.

As well some time for you. You've a lovely bike, go for a Sunday ride on it. Even if it's only for a few hours.

Bald Eagle is a little over 2hrs from here - I've ridden it a little. I'm a regular in the Adv NE forum and chase tags in about 4 or 5 games on road and off on the weekends but I don't really know any of the other players in meat space. I keep meaning to go to a bigger rally like BYOB or one of the MOA ones - I went to Deadhorse last year up in Chetsville but it seemed more like a small family get-together than an inviting group. Cliquey. I had a beer and left.

Drat! (I didn't have the $ for it any way)

Back to the OP- just throwing some ideas out there...

  • Check out a local maker space? Learn to 3D print, laser cut, program, sew upholstery. Or even teach in one, like welding/fabrication.

  • Build a boat- canoe or kayak? Then take a camping trip in it. Or if you don't know how to sail, learn how?

I say build a bicycle on a budget:

http://www.cxmagazine.com/cheapbike

Interesting beater car for the time being? Find junk that people put out for the trash, restore it then flip it? Thats what I kinda do on the side. I just picked up a vintage exercise bike that someone put out, lubed the chain and flipped it for a good profit
