A few ground rules:
- Not Miata or E30
- Rear-wheel drive
- Manual Trans.
- Preferably Carbureted
I'm looking at 80-83 Corollas and 1st Gen Celicas. I would kill for a 510 Wagon if I could find a decent one. Other than that, whadda ya got?

There was a guy in Northern Polk County, FL who was trying to sell a pair of 510's (not wagons) a while back.....one of the two was a bit rusty, but the other looked OK.
If you want to go all turbobrick (i.e. swap in mustang internals) on a 810/910 wagon, I have the shell of one sitting around....
I was in that boat and got a Mazda 808 - http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/70s-groovy-bought-a-mazda-808-piston-powred-rx-3/32405/page1/

Maserati Biturbo!
Lighter than e30, rear wheel drive, manual trans, carbureted, AND twin turbos!

Hmm...very intriguing.

I love that! Not sure how many of those are hanging around the Seattle area, though.
If you get an RX-7 I happen to have a set of Hayashi Racing 14x6 4-spokes in the shed. Not like I was saving them for Lime Green SA or anything...
I might go get the RX JUST to buy those wheels. I was also looking at a few Starlets in the area, but the K engine can be hard to find parts for in the junk yard -- not a lot of wrecked Starlet or K-series Corollas around.
tou can help me by buying that 240 on the 2011 classifieds. i need it to go away so i stop thinking of ways to fit it in my yard! it will only cost you 1250 and leave the rest for shipping to washington!
i have a 66 rambler for sale that runs and drives witha 3 on the tree and a 199 str 6.... north of the windy city....lots of new parts in the past few years.
You can probably find a Triumph TR7 coupe, one of the early cars built in the Speke plant near Liverpool where they used to go on strike at the drop of a hat. Guaranteed to be totally frustrating. There will always be an England.
But....the TR7's made later in Coventry are much better cars. Probably much harder to find at that price unless the body is rusting out however.
Maybe a Spitfire fixer upper?
+1 on the TR7. You can find a decent convertible for that price if you look around. Fun, great handling, draws tons of attention, and begs for a V8 transplant. Don't bother with the early four speed cars. Don't believe all the negative hype you hear from people who have never owned one.
Not a carb but how about a 944? Javelin just bought one under Challenge budget, and when you get sick of the 4-banger a SBC transplant is well-documented
Just spotted this on the local CL: http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/cto/2231535916.html Thoughts?

Proof that crack does not smoke itself.
Oh, and I 2nd the corvair but only if its got magic spinning triangle power.
Starquests can be had for that price and are the epitome of 80's cool. Fiero? Cressida converted to manual? Z-car? Starlet? Chevette? Dart? Duster?
