Everything about this seems fake and not-genuine- Their ballenciaga looking ads and social media responses all seem AI-generated.
Getting people to comment and talk about it will help them sadly in this post-truth era, but their target demographic is some supposed tech-forward and futurist millennial who's becoming established, even going as far as to posit the yearly wage range they'd be capable of ($150K-$180K yearly); I'm sorry Jag, but that person is a tiny minority and I doubt ya'll have that much brand presence to take market share from other established marques like Tesla and Mercedes. And these "leaks"? BullE36 M3, the modern "leak" is a marketing attempt to drum up attention for your car pic that oh jesus christ it's rough outline has dithering, making this whole "rebrand" feel half baked to me.

The good:
It's a two door coupe.
So, naturally, Jaguar announces the production model will only be available as a four door and possibly a crossover SUV.

In reply to MadScientistMatt :
The development mule has been spotted, it IS a four door, but not an SUV - proportions look relatively close to the prototype
In reply to Piguin :
The base of the windshield is about a foot further forward than the concept.

Hence the 'relatively'. The blockiness seems to still be there though.
They are adding two doors and rear seats, they need to move things forward. Seems the concept keeps some design elements from classic sports cars, elongated hood etc, while the actual car will keep the refrigerator design language, bar the things that actually make it appealing to people like us.
Followed by another row of outraged publicity once it is revealed. Which probably follows Jag's plans in enticing a completely new and affluent customer base, who might see the purist's anger as a clear sign that the brand is something completely different.
Why that could make them interesting in actually buying one, I do not know.
It actually looks pretty close to the Rolls Royce electric car. I saw one of these in person, and it's generously bulbous. It's just ridiculously LARGE all over. The door windows are probably 4.5 ft off the ground, gigantic wheels etc.
Probably the market they are working towards. There has got to be at least 20 or 30 people who are in this market....
Looks an awful lot like the cadillac celestiq
And I'd argue Saab did it better in 2006:
I keep thinking the Miami Pink version would be Ace & Gary approved.

Judging from where the B pillar is on that mule, that foot was to make room for a rear door.
Now, a usable rear door is not apparently a consideration.

*deadass stare* COPY NOTHING
But to Jag's credit, they did at least get the pinwheels oriented correctly.
I can't not see Pontiac Sunbird wheels everytime I see this thing

There is an odd contrast of a logo of flowing, rounded letters and a product of ridgid, straight lines.
That's something that gets me wound up on cars, where the designer apparently set out with "use nothing but smooth flowing curves", then part way through, management replaced him/her, and it's finished with straight lines.

Dude-- MSN made the same mistake LOL
They just did a repost of the TG article but treated it as for real.
"Here’s TopGear.com’s roving correspondent, Cory Spondent, with his mostly incorrect exclusives from the world of motoring"
The REAL funny part would be if Jag decided to run with it and for real say they were kidding
Ya know, this reminds me of when some Chinese paper reposted an article from TheOnion

That MSN article is just a retelling of the Top Gear joke.
Although it might happen. Who remembers New Coke?

I still think the outrage over all this is hilarious.
This "rebranding" is genuinely the only noteworthy thing Jag has done in 50 years.
Took me a sec when I first read the TG version after following the MSN link earlier.

50 years might be a bit of a stretch.
But it has been awhile. I do like the F-type though, even if it didn't really stand out in its segment.

This reminds me of something I think JG said. "We don't have AI writers because we don't have AI readers."
