A question for Jag enthusiests, how come Jag people are so biased against the XJS models like the V12s , in racing the Group 44 XJS cars were much faster than all Jags (except GTP cars that used the XJS V12 engines), winning many races in Trans-am, and other types of competition. Jaguar is the featured marque at the Mitty, but not much about XJS. YES! I own a 78 XJS roadster V12, and its a damn good car, rotisserie restoration, custom widebody, its a liteweight, 600lbs lighter than factory coupes, 375hp at 6700rpm. but at Jag gatherings it is snubbed, and i think it could out perform most Jags there! anybody comment on this?? and of interest my engine uses Group 44, 3mm oversize racing valves, springs and retainers, bought from then, crew chief Lanky, a smart cookie, heck i wonder if he is still around, anyone know?? I don't think most folks are biased against the XJS, so much as scared off. There's a lot that can (and very likely will) go wrong on them.

Which Mitty page were you looking on? The Classic one (http://classicmotorsports.net/events/mitty-09/) focuses a bit more on the classics, while the one over here focuses a bit more on the more modern stuff.

Either way, you'll be happy to hear this one will be at The Mitty: http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/reader-rides/409/

And we should have some Jaguar-related Mitty updates coming soon (along with some other Mitty updates).

My dad had 3, so I'm pretty familiar with them. The XJS is a great car.

I think the anti-XJS feeling is in the same vein of how the MGTD was a considered a bastardization of the TC, the MGA of the T series, the MGB of the MGA (wind up windows! Oh the horror!) and the E type was a hard act to follow. The XJS was, if you think about it, the next logical step and given the screwy rollover crash regulations of the time it was about the only way Jag could continue with a sporty car here in the States.

My only real gripe: so few had manual trannies.
