They make really good TV Stands.

That is awesome!
In other news, I took a closer look today and all 4 rear u joints have actually been recently greased. What I assumed was a blown u joint was actually grease coming out of the seals, but all 4 are doing it evenly, and the nipples have the same color grease on them.
So, 1 - is it normal to have a tiny bit of play at the back wheel like this (I think not, but might as well ask)? Manual says 0.15mm of play at the differential carrier bearing is in spec. I guess I wouldn't be able to feel that much play by hand, but it would be a bit more play at the top of the wheel due to the geometry multiplying the distance. Maybe I am feeling half a mm of movement and am worrying over nothing? Again, I can only feel play when I shake the wheel top to bottom, not any at all side to side.
2, if the play is in fact indicitive of something wrong, how do I isolate what is the issue? I of course can't feel any play in an individual part.
3, maybe 2 is the answer but I just need to drive it more until the failing part becomes clear?
For number 2, you need someone to wiggle it and produce the play while you watch the suspension. Sometimes putting your hand on a part can let you feel a tiny bit of movement that you can't see.

Thank you. I am very interested to hear what you find. I can feel mine by putting both hands on the top of the wheel and pushing in and out pretty hard with the car on the ground.
My first instinct is wheel bearing, maybe I am overthinking this...

Good idea. I will try to procure a helper.
When I put the Jag rearend in the pinto it was very worn, Lucky for me there is a guy down the street who specializes in them and we went through the whole thing and he convinced me in getting rid of the Jag axles and going with ones like in a Vette (Little Driveshafts) also the bushings on the lowers were very sloppy and once replaced it had no play.
Well, in other news, I decided to go ahead and replace the motor mounts because I already had the parts and it didn't look too hard.
Good thing!
Both were totally torn in half from under the heat shields where you could not see an external tear. The passenger side was indeed easy, the driver's side was a bit of a pain since the steering rack needs to be dropped for access (to remove and replace the mount, you could technically unbolt it without touching the rack, but you will never get the old part out or the new one in).
