JC Penny commercial

What is the little 2 door wagon featured in the JC Penny TV commercial that shows a girl going off to college?

It is green with a white top. It looks a little like a Hillman Imp, but that's not what it is.

Based on the wheelbase and the shape of the rear hatch I believe it's a lightly customized Morris 1100 Traveller. The tailights, rear bumper and side window configuration don't quite agree, but it may also have been shortened.

It is a customized imp as far as I can tell; I want a good imp so bad!

Watching with interest. I don't think it's a Mini 1100 because of the lack of a "lip" effect around the front wheel arch and back along the bottom of the door. (Who would customize that off??) I also don't think it's an Imp because the hatch goes all the way down to the bumper, and an Imp would have Something In The Way in that area. My alternative suggestions are a Soviet-bloc knockoff or an obscure European brand like DAF or something.

At first I was gonna say no way. Look at that panel between the windows and the hatch, Bianchinas don't have that but turns out later models did!

I love me an Autobianchi. Fiat 500 based FWIW.

I had ruled out Italian because it didn't look like a Fiat to me. I was dead set on it being English, but I knew it was no Imp or a Mini variant. Autobianchi Bianchina Panoramica that's one I didn't know of. Love 2 door wagons.

My wife asked me about that thing just a few days ago…now I have an answer.
