i guess it would be kind of neat if you threw away the smogtastic (probably) 305 and atleast put a vortec long block in it.

How do you know it's a 305? It at least has an aluminum intake - centerbolt valve covers indicate that the heads were at least somewhat better than the worst of the 70s.
That looks like a vented '83 hood. I've seen those going for $600+ in decent shape. Shame it's bent.

it's probably a 305 because that's what's mostly left over for cheap to be put into cars like this. it might be a 350, but probably not..
not all centerbolt heads are good- in fact, the only decent non vortec centerbolt heads are the iron L98 heads that were used in F bodies and Caprice cop cars. the rest are pretty much junk with high swirl ports that really do nothing but choke off airflow above 3500 rpm. yeah, they generally have smaller 64cc chambers in this era- but they aren't really good chambers by modern standards. unless they are the iron L98 heads, i'll take a set of 70's smog era 882's over whatever those are. and if it is a 305, i'd take a set of 80's 305 HO L69 heads over any non vortec 305 centerbolt head.
and that aluminum intake is nothing special- just a craptastic smog era intake that happens to be cast in aluminum. the only people that ever sought them out were circle track racers that wanted to run an aluminum intake but were bound by rules to run stock castings.
In reply to novaderrik:
yup, those intakes are basically worth their weight in scrap. there's been one sitting on my shelf for years, it's goin' to the scrap yard this week
btw, do older factory SBC 4-bbl cast intakes have n e value these days? I have a '70, i'd never use it for a build but mebbe someone doin' a resto
Would they sell the whole car and could you get a title for it? That would be a great starting point for a challenge car if the rest of the car has not been picked clean.
As long as the motor mounts and what not are not a hack job that's alot of potential.
Remove motor and sell / scrap it. Add modestly built carbed SBC and a 4/5 speed (if it is not already there) and go have fun.
That would be a really fun sleeper.
No matter what weaksauce 305/350 the motor might be, the mounts are useful to do a swap using a better motor in a different Starion!

Looks more like a redneck with a sawzall and a summit catalog to me.

Oops, you're right. Thought the yellow stickers on either side were vents letting sunlight through. Didn't notice the cowl cutout.
