I needed more truck than the Tundra V8 I sold to buy the 2500HD. Honestly - if it proves to be reliable, it's a comfortable, capable, economical... stupidly powerful (6.6 Duramax) machine. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. If it falls apart soon, I take it all back.

I was making light of his anti-GM/pro Honda rant yesterday. It's what I do.

There you go again mis-quoting me. For the record, there was no anti-GM/pro-Honda rant from me. Just like anyone, I have certain experiences that lead to certain conclusions, and I was expressing that conclusion. I own GM vehicles, have owned them in the past, and will likely own them in the future.

For some reason that pic reminds me of a kid that wanted to race me for pinks.

I was in my bosses FB rx7, with a highly modded 13B, to the tune of 230whp and 9K redline. And it had just blown the center muffler out so it was extremely loud and un refined.

I pulled into a gas station with that wonderful rotary brap idle with half the people staring. One of the 3 kids called it a POS, and the owner of the truck wanted to race for pinks. I told him I didn't need another truck. All he had was a exhaust that I could see. It was pretty funny when I did 9K in 1st/2nd away from him....

Sorry just had to share. :)

My mom bought a 1500 of that era without properly inspecting it. A lot of little stuff like the clips, lock switches, window latch, etc are broken but it is a nice truck. My mom's is a 1500 with 4x4 and gets really bad gas mileage from what I hear. I did get to be a big shot and use 4x4 so that was fun. I'm used to driving a compact toyota truck so this this was monstrously large. It is weird driving such a large truck that you don't notice the size once under way. The sound from the engine is pretty nice, never really driven a car with a V8 so it was a nice respite.

Aside from the broken interior stuff the 5.7l engine was down 1.5g coolant and there was crud in the coolant system. I guess on the 5.7l engine the threaded insert into the engine for the heater core can corrode and start leaking. The repair shop told me 9 in 10 come out fine and can be replaced but 1 in 10 just breaks off and leaves you F'd.

Not by chance a Hurricane Katrina truck, is it?

My 2002 2500HD is pretty awesome so far. Had it for about a year, and about 10,000 miles.
