Simple answer: You can!
Trans is probably the countershaft bearing, when mine went it was easier/cheaper to get a 5spd from a junk yard than it was to fix the bearing (plus you get a spare gear box to play with!). Out with the old, in with the less-old, and done! Maybe call around and see if any yards near ya have a FB sitting around.
If you really wanted to farm out the work then I'd check on rx7club.com in the regional forums for a local mechanic (http://www.rx7club.com/se-rx-7-forum-35/) for your street-porting needs. If you can get your engine to Tennessee you might want to look at Rotary Resurrection. He's been doing builds on the cheap for a long time and has a big presence in the community. He'd probably be able to port your engine for ya. http://rotaryresurrection.com/1stgen/index.html
For DIY options:
pineapple racing sells porting templates for a street port.

I did my first rebuild with an Atkins rotary engine rebuild kit:

and a rebuild "how-to" video from DIY-RE. I'm not sure if the video set is still for sale but with the power of youtube you may be able to find an instructional video for free!
Good luck and happy wanklin!
