A relative out west is considering restomodding the truck and trailer.
I think I'd look for a 2500HD rollover wreck to set the cab/box on before I tried to put a Duramax into that. I really have no experience with this sort of thing... but I know how HD it looks under my truck in order to keep 600+ ft/lbs from twisting it apart under load. It would be hard to replicate.

TBH you are going to need a custom frame/new rear end/transmission if you put a Duramax into that old of a truck. A 4BT might be a better option but you will still need a rear end/transmission.

It stands to reason needing a new trans, and rear, and beefing up the frame just wondering if the engine would fit without cutting the hood up

so I dont see one fitting. A 4bt might fit though.
