I went and tried out the racing karts a few weekends ago and had a blast.
I've done indoor race kart tracks, like Victory lane in charlotte and speed in lauderdale, but this one was quite a bit better.
Without the restrictions of an indoor facility, the course design allows you to carry a bit more speed, rather than having to park it in corners like the indoor tracks.
Yeah, they are the 6 hp 4 stroke engines, so they arent all that fast. However, it becomes a bit like racing my ITB car, in that momentum preservation is key.
When I was there, the groups were 10 or 12 in size, so plenty of people to pass
Lots of the guys wouldnt exactly let you by either, even if you are obviously faster...so it makes it more interesting
Anyways, why not have a meet with lots of other racers? Nobody that was there that day could drive, so it would make it much more fun to have other like minded drivers out on track together.
They have transponders for times and it runs about 50 bucks for 3 ten minute sessions (a little steep I guess). The endurance races are cheaper as you get like an hour and a half split between three or four people.
And, unless you are quite fat, bring something to stuff around your ass so you dont slide around in the XXXL seats. This is especially key if you want to keep it pegged through the fast right hand sweeper...which is impossible to do if you are hanging onto the wheel with a death grip.
Anybody interested in having a large group meet there some weekend?
