My 2005 Tacoma 4WD Double Cab needs new front struts. I was about to order a pair of Bilsteins from Rock Auto when I discovered that they also sell full strut assemblies. Unfortunately, they do not have Bilstein assemblies. KYB looks like my best option. I hate messing with springs and time is kind of tight lately, so a drop-in solution is very tempting. Also, my strut mounts are original and probably pretty worn out after 135k miles.

Has anybody used these KYB assemblies before?

KYB Strut-Plus assembly, $108.99 each, complete

The Bilsteins that I was planning to order, $102.79 each

We sell these at work (I work for a wholesale parts distributor). My customers (professional installers) really prefer them. Generally, you'll more than offset the cost of the spring with the reduced labor (and you probably need the strut mount anyway, right?). The common word that almost always comes up when talking about them is "No-brainer."

I have personally installed the KYB complete struts, and I love them. I don't sell KYB at my employer, and I still tell people to buy them instead of what I do sell. You will be happy.
