I paid 79k for a 1905 Victorian, 2 story 1400 sq ft 3 bed 1 bath in Spokane WA in 2016. It wasn't the cheapest on the market by far. I admit I did get a good deal because he was rushing to leave the area and didn't shampoo carpets etc but there were several houses in the 50k range.

I sold it for more and the area has boomed now too

Spokane is a small town, even by Oklahoma standards.

How much would that house have cost in Portland? You have to understand most people don't want to live in some backwater, hilljack area, and that's why homes are cheaper in those areas.

Yeah, no

Spokane has over 200k people and a suburb with about 100k ,even has an international airport.

That's not a backwater no matter how poorly you googled

Both are cool, but for the price? Not for me. Not sure why everyone gets in a tizzy over it.

Not for you? Then don't buy it. It's that simple.

Whenever Mrs. Snowdoggie complains about what I spend on that old Jeep, I show her the Davis Autosports Website where people are spending stoopid money on cool old Jeeps.

Yes, it is. Even the Tulsa area is nearly 1.3 million. No matter how poorly you googled it.

Why do people from the coasts try so hard to denigrate the middle of the country while having so little knowledge of it?

It's still not a backwater, it basically has the population of St Louis which is one of the huge problems of Spokane, too many people for the infrastructure it has.

I didn't Google Tulsa, why would I?

And when the berkeley did I say anything bad about the middle of the country and why are you so pissy about it?

Wow, really?

I was really hoping after a few years of hopefully massive depreciation I could replace my UJ100 Land Cruiser with one.

2 door SUVs are cool. Convertibles are cool. Vehicles that have option sheets with red, orange, white, or mint green leather are even cooler.

If you buy an Evoque, you can have all of those things... PLUS piss people off while standing still? Brrrr. I might need to put on a coat.

So speaking of real off-roaders, with the massive 2 foot snow storm we just had here I actually had to USE the one off roader we have.  To get around I had to toss it into 4 low several times and lock up the rear diff a couple of times.

My VW hasn't come out of the garage and probably won't for several more days until things melt more.  AWD and snow tires don't fix a complete lack of ground clearance or a lack of a low range transfer case.

While we don't get snow like this that often, having a real 4wd capable vehicle is something I need.  Luckily I can use this Xterra for the next few years before my daughter goes to college.  If we get a storm bad enough I need it, her school will be canceled and she won't need it.

That does make me think that in a few years I should either replace the R with something with a real transfer case, or buy another Xterra like vehicle to just have kicking around.  That will give me a few years to see just how horribly unreliable the new Disco's are, lol!

I know driving and taking pictures is not the smartest move ... but driving on the highway with a dog on your lap while half hanging out the window is downright stupid.

Paint it purple with gold flames and it would look for all the world like a hotwheels generic.

and not to flounder too much but not all populated areas we call "cities" are created equal. I moved from a non-coast metro of 2m to another non-coast of 500k. Not until I'd lived here a few months did I realize the drastic difference.

Not in a good way.

At all.

If I had FU money and wasn't concerned about reliability I'd take one. A decent set of all terrain tires and it's probably a fun beach cruiser.

I bet that the only thing you'd need to modify are the tires and possibly a roll cage, only for safety considerations, and this ugly thing would be as good as just about any "real" off roader off the showroom floor.

It isn't any different mechanically than the normal evoque, which was driven across Africa for some production.

I bet when they drove across Africa, they stuck to roads.
