I will be in Las Vegas from June 10-14 and was curious what stuff there is to do? I am 20 not 21 so I can't see much of the casinos. Is there anything motorsports related that I could go to? Any good kart tracks (not the kiddie ones but real ones)? Anything else cool I can see?

Thanks,
Joshua

Check out the Imperial Palace Auto Collections. You can get a free admission coupon online too. I'll actually be going back on the morning of the 11th.

Fairly certain that hookers don't care what your age is. Just sayin'.

That'll sort of "thing to do" is only legal outside of Vegas, though .

As a casino worker... (in AC, not Vegas) I have a REAL issue with underage people in casinos at all. It is an adult past time and even then, I am not sure they are mature enough to appreciate it properly. Sorry, but I have seen people drop near everything they own on the tables and walk away empty handed.

Stay away from the tables and take the other advice on where to go to heart.

He's over 18, and I can't think of a more entertaining way to lose money.

If you have transportation, there's a dry lake bed about an hour out of town that seems to be used for dozens of car commercials. There's also a cool old mine out that direction that's been used in a couple movies/shows.

There's Las Vegas Motorspeedway (or something like that), Shelby American and I think they have some sort of museum, plus out in Parumph there is Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch.

Hoover Dam is worth visiting, too, IMHO.

+1 Take the tour.

Lots of casinos are fun to walk through/see...Star Trek hilton, canals in venice, the gardens and fountains at the bellagio. I used to like the pirate show at Treasure Island, but I think it was torn down....the Luxor was cool...wasn't it torn down, too?

You can gamble when you're 18, it's just because most casinos serve alcohol on the floor they mandate players to be 21 years and older. That being said; I agree, most people who gamble go in with the wrong mentality.

Vegas has a lot of really cool magic shows, cirque du sole, world class art galleries, LV Motorspeedway, tons of neat ghost towns if you have access to a 4x4 and natural hot springs.

There's plenty to do without blowing your money on gambling.

I live here. Plenty of good things to do.

aside from the IP museum and the Shelby American place, that's about it for car goodies.

Check out the Atomic Energy Museum, that's pretty awesome. See a show. The Pinball museum might be your thing, all games are playable. Go downtown on a weekend night and people watch, also see the world's largest LED video display. I could go on, but I don't know your interests.

Yup - cheap and less than 45 min by rental car. The tours hose you and take you to tourist traps.

Go see the Fountains at the Bellagio - especially at night - Cool.

Went to Vegas last year with 7 other guys for a 40th Birthday Celebration. Came back with $12 MORE than I went with. I am in the minority.

I think the original poster was looking for "underage things to do".

Just ask the concierge. Weed, coke, boys, whatever you fancy. Justt make sure the tip is better than the vice squad would give him.

I clicked on this thread not because I know anything at all about Vegas other than I don't want to go there unless it is to see the Hoover Dam, but because I thought I knew you people and figured with 18 posts there would no doubt be at least one post with a picture of a <18 year old looking girl.

What I meant was not some commercial venture in vegas that totes you to the dam. That definitely would be a waste of time and money.

I meant that he should go on the parks dept.'s tour that takes you down by the turbines and lets you see the bypass tunnels that the water flowed through as it went around the construction site of the dam. (They built smaller dams upstream and downstream of hoover dam's construction site. The water was then routed around the site by sending it through tunnels bored into the cliffs.)

the ferrari/maserati dealer at wynn las vegas is pretty cool, they charge $10 to get in but it's a cool way to kill an hour. Last time I was there I wound up talking to a guy who's company wanted to buy him an italia as his yearly bonus, but he was 6'5 and wanted to make sure he'd fit in one, so they flew him out to vegas to try it on.

Yep, sorry having been there I new what you meant and didn't even realize that I had also used the tour word. I should have used tour operator.

Definitely take the tour at the dam. When you go into the dam and you have to yell to be heard over the sound of the water flowing through the pipes it is cool!

find my uncle.. he lives on the streets somewhere in Vegas.. his name is Dennis and he wears overalls so he looks like a farmer, and he talks with the appropriate southern drawl to go with the look.. have him play you a song on his guitar..

If you do have a rental car, death valley is a great day trip. Gorgeous.

+1 on the atomic testing museum. I could have spent more time there for sure.

If you are into the great outdoors there are a few places other than Hoover Dam nearby as well.

Red Rock Canyon is just outside of Vegas and is beautiful. Scenery is great, and many of the hikes are worthwhile. Bring a camera of course.

As failboat says, Death Valley is a few hours away but it's very cool in a surreal sort of way, and as a plus the drive going in is one of the more interesting drives in the country. Lots of different places to check out there, even some local flora and fauna, and a creek with fish believe it or not. Stop back in Rhyolite, a ghost town, as you loop back to Vegas. Death Valley and Rhyolite was a day trip I found very worth the drive.

SHELBY AMERICAN does tours of the museum and the factory. It's on my list of things to do next time I'm out there.

I know that kids often like to head to "the mall" but be careful in LV. The last time I took my wife shopping at the local mall, the only stores they had were Ferragamo, Coach, Prada, Luis Vitton...I did not get out of there cheaply!
