Hmm, I was next to a new standard cab/long bed F-150 2 hours ago, and i liked that it didn't seem massive.
Its not... I don't know what the exact set up was, but they were similar for both trucks and the F150 was bigger than the F250.
Confession: I absolutely do not like pickup trucks. I have never driven one I even remotely came close to enjoying.
So, with that salt grain firmly in mind, I wonder why we don't see the nifty cab over diesel 1 ton work trucks seen in Asia and South America. They aren't fashionable, but they seem to me much better at - you know - working.

crumple zone = leg space
no chance in hades we will ever see something like that on our shores. Too many lawyers and too many people willing to blame someone else for their decisions.
Too bad too; that would look awesome with a Spec Racer on the back. :)
Actually, the new ones in Europe/Japan/other-rich-and-crowded-countries have crumple zones similar to the ones in a Smart. Small but efficient.
That said, they don't LOOK safe, and that's probably enough to kill them in the US.

it took 4 adults, a Challenge car hanging off the back of it and a bed full of Challenge car parts to Gainesville. That truck rocks.
Minus 1 adult, my dynasty did the same thing Got the same mileage too..but i didnt have any extra power
What year was your previous dakota?

It was an '02 Club Cab, 2wd, 4.7/auto/sure grip that I bought new. My current truck is actually the exact same truck option wise, only it's a Quad Cab.
The family outgrew the club cab, so it was sold. I went out and looked for the exact same truck in a quad cab. In the end, I basically traded the '02 club for the '01 quad with a bunch less miles.
In 02 I wanted to replace my 98 R/T with a new quad Cab Dakota. I've owned three others from the first design also. When I priced and optioned a 4wd/4door with a V8 I was $2500 from buying the same truck in a 1500. So I did, the newer ones were to much money and not enough truck. I have not regretted my decision to leave the Dakota behind.
OTOH, I would like to have a new Mitsu Raider, since you just never see them and the interiors seemed nicer for less money.
