My Uncle lived in the USA for 20 years and then moved to Germany. He has a friend there that is interested in buying a 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T and shipping it to Germany. Budget probably low 20's. He is a mechanic by trade so he could buy a car to restore, but I worry about parts and prices over there. I don't know much about Mopars so I am looking for board experts that can help me when I start finding cars. Also, other than Hemmings, are there Mopar specific places to find this specific car?

Contact Rob_Mopar on the board. He's a super nice guy, runs a speed shop in PA and Mopar Muscle is his specialty.

Depends on what he wants. Resto quality? Driver? Hot rod?

Same thing holds true, buy the best car you can for the money you can spend. ESPECIALLY since there is an ocean in the way. 15k can buy a dang nice driver that doesn't cost an arm and leg to keep running.

I haven't kept real close tabs on musclecar prices recently, but I thought they were getting seriously expensive...that's still pretty reasonable.

OP, is he set on an "actual" R/T? There's nothing an R/T has that you can't add to a two-door Coronet. Probably be quite a bit cheaper to start with that. Finding one with a big-block might be kind of difficult thought.

Course, if he had an ACTUAL R/T back in the day, he's probably going to want to recreate the experience, right?

Glueguy, I just saw the thread this morning.

I have a buddy that sold a '70 Coronet convertible to a fellow in Germany a few years ago. I think he's stayed in contact with him. If he has, I'll see if he can put me in touch with him. At minimum we can get your uncle in contact with the German Mopar community.

Your Uncle's budget is reasonable for a '68 R/T. I don't know of any for sale in my area. I know where a '69 is, but it's over his budget.

PM me and I'll point you in a couple directions of where to look. I don't want to be rude plugging other magazines or forums on GRM's board.

I've got to get some more information on exactly what he wants. Driver over full resto, definitely a 440. I appreciate the help!
