I know I always make comments about the zine covering lawnmower racing sine them call them grassroots...motor sport....you can get more grass roots then this. Just to add a big push I went a little nuts sept 13 for a group that was racing up in union grove, wi. I had a 16gig card in the camera for the races....I went a littlenuts taking pics. Just under 1500 shots of races and Iif you look though there was one big wreak, some of the mowers where getting a bit air at one point. I was shooting from the center of the cicrle track and I will say it was very fun to shoot. I have two posts links to show all the pics.

The next part of all the pics. The reason I have no pics shown is I posting from my tablet and sharing lonks is a pain.
Looks like fun...I wonder how much work is involved in turning a regular mower into a racing mower. Most of them look like they've been "body chopped" just above the deck.
I thought GRM did a story on this once, IIRC it was pretty easy.
Dan
They did on turning a mower into a yard cart, some of these guys have close to $10, 000 into their setup. One of the guys has one that looks almost like a kart then a mower and could reach 80mph. It was pretty wild wstching these guys.
Great all I need is to get dragged into lawnmower racing again. I went as far as starting to build one until I realized there was no where nearby me to run one.
On the lower classes you remove the blades and jackshafts/belt from the deck and solidly mount it to the chassis. The rules specify the distance from the ground it has to be. The upper class runs without a deck. They are the ones that look super low to the ground and run ridiculous speeds.
Where are you moparman? I can do some checking and see if any one knows groups around the area to race? Sometimes check into the local mower repairs or do some internet digging.
