My 95 Caprice has been trying to kill itself lately. A bunch of lame nickel and dime things are happening almost weekly. This weeks fiasco: power steering line.

Ordered the new line, tore apart the accessories and removed the old line and most of the skin on my knuckles. Good. This time the Haynes manual wasn't far off. "Installation is opposite of removal."

But now the line entering the steering box leaks. I must have done it half right as the line exiting the pump is fine. The line has an O ring, so I may have torn it, but that's as much as I can guess. The nut is not cross threaded.

Any tips or ideas?

remove the line. Slide back the locking nut up the tube, apply thin layer of grease to the tube, now spin the nut as you work it back down to the end. Apply little gerease to o-ring, Replace o-ring use a flare wrench to tighten.

Good luck 44
