So as some of you probably know I have a box truck I built into an rv. I have some questions on bead profiles....

I am currently running a 19.5 tire on a two piece beadlock wheel which includes a run flat insert that pinches the beads onto the rim.

Ideally I would like to run without the insert.

The rim uses a TRA - 15 bead profile.

some data.... "regular" rims are 5 degree taper, half size are 15 degree simply to mount the tire with the steel belts in the sidewall is my understanding.

Between the stiffer sidewalls and the higher pressures they don't have retention issues.

But I do stupid (Rutted/holed FS roads) with mine.... I am sure that stresses the retention.

The wheel Mfg says they suggest using the insert.

Anyone have any knowledge on bead/rim profiles? I know we have some tire folks here.

Uggghhhh anyone want to fix the title to Bead not Brad...

I thought the .5 sizes were originally meant for tube tires, thus the lack of a safety bead to hold the tire against the rim.

I'm not certain. All modern semi truck run half sizes tubeless?
