I am in need of new shoes for my did e30 and I am having trouble finding tires. This vehicle is the only one I own that will not see any track driving so ultra high performance isn't required. But I also don't want super squishy and unresponsive. Kumho sense is in the right price point but got axed in reviews for that squishyness. Looks like general altimax is the lowest cost potion with descent reviews with the bfg close behind. What does the hive like in the $60 to $85 a tire range?

I'm in the same position and would like to know this as well. I'm currently rolling on cheap Nexen tires, that were the only thing a local tire shop could get in that size through their supply system. I want to keep my stock basketweaves.
When I have to replace my 14's (I prefer 205+), I may have to go with treaded (street illegal) track tires. The selection of performance 14's is crap and I don't drive the car that much.
Thats a pretty low price point for anything but round and black. Try 205/55/14 and your options might open up a bit
That happens to be the size we race on Ministock here. Minimum 380tw, I think, and the best tire seems to be the Kumho KH16. Sumitomo quit making their good one. Really, there isn't anything but commuter junk or race tires now.
Bite the bullet and buy 15" wheels.
Yeah, not much left in that size. Even on my e30, which runs 14" rally tires, my street tires I had to go to 15s to find anything decent.
Not cheap (but not horrible) and certainly not light but these BBS look alikes would let you keep the same flavor. Very happy with mine.
Privat wheels.
Good luck? You have your choice of chinese tires. Almost all of them suck. Sumitomo HTR's are sometimes available. They are ok. But in all honestly, there are not many good choices. Falkens have the RT615 out there too.

RT615K is available and 75 off a set of four puts it in your price range, and if you dont want to do that aggressive the only other thing I saw Id consider is the BFG SSAS. Ive always had good luck with BFG High performance all seasons.
A look on Discount tire has Cooper CS3 for $70 shipped. I haven't tried those but I've been very happy with my other Coopers, CS4/5, RS3A.

Nope, only track tires. (at Tirerack)
PROXES R888 might last a while on the street if driven carefully.
