My trusty 2013 Infiniti G37x from the Canadian rust belt is starting to show some rust (and has a hole in the exhaust) despite only having 66,000 miles, so I'm looking into possible replacements for the future. I liked just about everything about the G37 except the atrocious fuel economy (seriously, 15 mpg around town in the winter is not acceptable), significant heft, and sub-optimal 7-speed transmission, but I don't think I'd buy a newer Infiniti, since the Q50 is basically the same big, heavy car with the same mpg (3.0T), and same 7-speed, but even more bland to drive.
The 2018+ Mercedes C300 4Matic has caught my eye as being an appropriate replacement, and seems to check every box of the Canadian winter beater category. I can't find many problems with these for reliability and maintenance. Canada also got the wagon variant (!!!), which seems to be priced quite attractively due to lack of demand. A well-optioned 2018 C300 wagon with 30,000 miles was for sale somewhat locally for $36,900 CAD (under $28,000 USD), which seems to be decent in this market. The 2023s are $76,000ish new. Can anyone talk me out of this?
