Sub 13 second 1/4 mile, very competent autocrosser, and impeccably presented preferably with something "special" about it. The "special" is up to you to come up with and can mean many different things.

Not any more.
There have been very few V-8's on the podium in recent years, and the FWD's have been dominating the autocross (and winning the overall).
Pat's team has won 2 years in a row with two different turbo Dodges. So lately 4 banger FWD has been the winning combo. I think the Hong Honda and Gutty Honda were also 4 banger FWD winners. V-8 RWD cars won in 2010 and 2011. I'd say fast and light is a good start.

This is my strategy. My original plan was a FIAT x1/9 that I bought, with various engine-swap ideas rattling thru my head. Unfortunately, I have neither the time, or talent, to bring any of them to fruition.
Even if I did, it would be a car that would probably not be too competitive at the Challenge, and would really have no place to play anywhere else.
So, I'm going to enter the rx7 I just picked up last weekend. Budget-friendly, and came with a crap-ton of extra wheels, body parts, and other items. Car ran Spec-7 in VA, and I am going to run it in ITA.
Will I be competitive in the Challenge? Nope.
Don't care... I will have fun in Gainesville, and I will do it in a car that I can run somewhere else the rest of the season.
