Farting around Youtube, I've found several VQ35 swapped Sentras, and they look like an absolute hoot. My car is a blast as is with the SR20, but if I could find a base GXE and swap the stuff over, I think it could make for a pretty awesome sleeper.
Most all the cars I've seen have been SE-Rs, which I know have 5 lug axles, whereas my car has four lug. From what I've gathered you can use the SE-R transmission with VQ35, LSD and all.
Say I bought a regular, plain jane Sentra (Because I like mine the way it is way too much) what is involved in a V6 swap?
Go!
...VQ engine bolts to SR trans?
Innnnteresting.
I believe there was just one guy who mainly does them, goes by the name of Trav?
It uses the SE-R Spec V transmission (QR25) with the bell housing from a 6MT Maxima bolted on. I think this means all the stock axles/mounts work with the exception of the passenger side (engine) mount.
By SE-R I meant the newer B15 cars with the QR25, not the SR20.
Sorry for the confusion.
There is an advertiser in GRM that sells the parts to do this. I visited the website a few weeks ago, as I had found a decent looking QR25 equipped Sentra that had highish miles on it, and I figured...why not "gild the lily", so to speak? Website is light, VERY light on details, or I missed something.
2J-racing.com is the advertiser
B15U.com may also have some info for you.
The B15 SE-R has 4 lug wheels, not 5.
I can't quite understand the appeal of a V-6 swap. It has more weight on the nose and less horsepower than my turbo. I suppose you might be able to do it for less money than the fully developed kit on my car, but using that kit as a guide and just buying the manifold, with used/fabricated parts for the rest, would bring it down to Challenge money.

And plenty of other reasons too.
One of my main reasons for doing anything is variety. You have ONE car (sentra/whatever) that does X Y Z? That's great. I'd definitely be happy with that for a few months.
I have one car that's had 5 different motors in it. I have 13 cars.
There's no way i could justify a vq35 sentra based on how well it performs per dollar vs a turbo qr25 blah blah blah. Start thinking like that and pretty soon nothing in this hobby makes any sense..
But is it DIFFERENT than what ive ALREADY built (not bought.. cough cough)? If so, that's most of the reason ill ever need.
Im interested in this thread for however much it relates to putting a vq35 into a ~2000 Altima my friend has. I keep ribbing him about putting a vq35 into it. I just tell him it's easy even though i dont actually know. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)

I love the way these motors sound, although stripped out racer isn't what I have in mind.
