Everyone here knows the answer is ALWAYS " Miata" .... just put the top down and headroom is unlimited

Keep in mind all tall isn't the same tall. Long legs vs torso vs whatever. I'm 5'11" and ride the same size bicycle frame as my friend who's 5'6/7" because my legs are short but my upper body is long.

it's hard to see through the sunvisors and top of the windshield frame.

Try sitting on a pillow (like short people)

For whatever reason, the Nismo seats don't really fit anyone well. The lumbar support is in the wrong spot, and the seatback forbids any reasonable sort of angle if you have long legs. The normal car is much more comfortable to most people. The normal seats are a little further forward at full rearward travel (maybe an inch) than the Nismo seats, but you can crank up the angle of the bottom cushion more than almost any other car I've been in. A couple years ago at the auto show, my dad (6'2", 33" inseam) cranked up the angle on the cushion in a 370Z coupe, and had to move his seat forward a bit to have comfortable control over the pedals. The normal car may be worth a shot.

NOT the answer... At 6'5" 34 inseam.. The top of the windshield is right in my vision.
Best fitting small car I have sat in is a Bug Eye. Everything was exactly where it needed to be.
In reply to G_Body_Man:
That's interesting. What you describe is the adjustment that matters to me 2nd most (seat angle) after seat bottom length.
Someday I will visit a CarMax and do some large scale test sitting.

That was my experience with Miatas until I drove EvanB's Miata. I dunno if the stock seat is thoroughly smooshed or what, but that car is positively roomy inside.
The hardtop does offer a lot more headroom than the convertible top, too.
I also have a 34" inseam. I used to be 6'5 but I suspect that spinal compression has shrunk me down a bit since I was a teenager.

Not all mercedes are like that, but its true that some (86-96 mostly) are pretty bad. My 98 w210 doesn't really have that problem, some of the older models do for sure.
c5+ vettes. i had a c4 for about 10 years and the first time i rode in a friend's c5 i was amazed at the headroom.

You can put the back of the seat bottom nearly all the way down to the floor, and you can crank the leading edge of the seat bottom nearly all the way to the top of the central tunnel. It's one of the most amazing things I've ever really seen in a seat. The backrests on the normal one are also much better than the Nismo's weirdly misshapen Recaro buckets.
Another thing that works well is the current generation Jaguar XJ.
You can pick up a 5 or 6 year old model with around 75k miles on the clock for between $23k and $28k, they have tons of interior space, and the way they shrink around you when driven hard is rather incredible.
I'm 6'2"; some really surprising tall driver friendly cars I've found include:
The MR2 was a real surprise, one of the few cars I couldn't reach the pedals with the seat all the way back.
My 2014 f150 is a conundrum... I'm 6ft3in. When my legs are comfortable I cannot touch the steering wheel. In fact, I can move the seat so far back as to not be able tot ouch the pedals in the truck with my feet... So I have to sit with my legs crunched so my arms are at a comfortable reaching distance...
My old 944 had the perfect ratio of headroom to legroom. I was comfortable, it had that HUGE sunroof, I could stretch my legs out on long drives, but the steering wheel waas exactly where it needed to be.
I used to work with 2 people who were over 6' 6", and both drove the Buick LaCross, said it was the only car they could fit in. My wife's Buick Encore is really tiny, but it has a surprising amount of room inside and if I push the seat all the way back, I can't reach the pedals. (no short jokes, I'm only 5' 10")
I am 6'6" with a 32" inseam. I am all torso. I have found that german 2 door hatchbacks generally have the best room. GTI, Mini, etc. They generally have longer seat rails than the 4 door cars (or at least feel that way). The second gen R56 Mini has the best ergonomics for me of any car I have driven.
Some weird stuff works like the New Beetle, Ford Transit Connect, and the Ford Flex. Dodge Magnum with no sunroof is hard to find but works. Prius V is a possibility if you want an appliance.
Cars I don't fit in safely with a helmet includes all Mazda products, FRS, all BMWs with sunroofs, c4 corvette, most Volvos.

Wow... I'm 6'2" with 32 inseam and torso is a big problem for me... I can't imagine another 4 inches of headroom required! Maybe a New Beetle or Honda Element.
As it is I love my Golf R!
I am currently driving a 1st gen R53 mini. I searched for about 6 months to find one with the options I wanted including no sunroof. When the original owner ordered the car, they had to check the "Sunroof delete" option so there aren't many.
The GTI doesn't have quite enough room for me with a helmet but I have only sat in the sunroof models. I can imagine going over a bump or a crest and shattering the sunroof on the way up.

I almost bought a 1st gen MINI for the same reason... it's the smallest car that fit me well. I ended up with an STi instead but I had to replace the driver seat with something that sits lower.
I was excited to see the Golf R was brought over without a sunroof! I will never buy a car with a sunroof that kills 1.5" of headroom.
My wife's Mazda5 with a sunroof is tolerable but that is a tall mini-minivan. In her previous 5 without the sunroof I could sit straight up vertical! That car was spacious and handled very well for what it was.
I've said it a number of times before, but for as much as everyone seems to hate on the ergonomics of the 4th gen Camaro it seems to work for me better than just about anything. I'm 6'3 with about a 33-34" inseam.
E36 is ok, but like others have mentioned, headroom is a serious issue.
2nd gen MR2 works surprisingly well, especially for a Japanese car.
I've a tall torso and long neck so headroom is always an issue. The seating position in the E36 sedan had my head bumping the roof. The 318ti hatchback (no sunroof) had loads of room.
I am 6'4" with must my height in my torso. I daily drove an AW11 MR2 for over 4 years without a problem. my buddy also has a SW20 MR2 that i also fit in very well. my brother has a NC miata hardtop and have no problem fitting in that.
I can also confirm that i probably wont ever be able to own a C7 vette without some seat modifications.
