I'll take a Century GS please.
You know, i've got a Bonneville SSEi with a good L67 sitting in the yard right now, it's survived my daughters latest attempt to kill it, though not without a few bumps and bruises. A 5 door with that motor in it would make one heck of a sleeper.. And, i'd drive the crap out of anything in this thread so far
When I was young and dumb I thought anything not V8/RWD was for squares. Was given a running Ciera XC with a slipping trans for free. We put a brick on the accelerator and forgot about it while we drank and partied-for over an hour. Went back to check on it and the exhaust was glowing red but it just kept running. Eventually it stopped. Could have run out of gas for all we knew. Junked it the next day. Wish I had it now.
I thought that might be my old car for a second, but mine was an '81. The steering wheel looks like a base model. The one in my '81 was much more robust looking.

the answer to your question is "DOHC 3.4".. decently fast, but not as good on gas as they should be. it's a motor that wants to rev to 8000, but they put mostly autos between it and the wheels.. there were a few Early Lumina Z34's that had 5 speed manuals, but they are rare.. also, everything is hard to replace on them except for the front spark plugs. the Monte Z34 got the proper 3.8 in 98 or so...
other than the engine, i do like the Lumina Z34.. it's just a car that fits me for some reason..
Thankfully my Craigslist search has turned up no 80's goodness except one Cimarron that needs a front bumper.
I'd own soooo many cars that would be considered junk for the nostalgia-factor alone.
I loved the 80's. A Citation with a Van Halen tape would suit me just fine.

Plenty of people collect STDs. Doesn't make it a good idea.
