Learn Me Grammer

I'm sorry, but why do we insist on sounding like morons on this board? And yes, I know how grammar is spelled (It was part of the plan, man). Edit - see my post below.

Personally as long as it isn't like the first sentence it doesn't bother me. The grammar Nazi's who like to point out your/you're like they are some type of witty, intelligent person for knowing a 2nd grade English lesson is a more annoying transgression.

I write for a living, but the Internetz isn't that "srs busniss."

Of all the boards I have whored over the years I would say that this is the most literal and articulate out there. Generally unless there is a "smiley" attatched the members mean what they type. Most often the titles are haxxored but the posts are usually well thought out and written in "lazy English" much the same way we would talk with people we know.

Too me, much of the appeal of this board is largely about the subject matter and the intellect, not the occasional typing mistake. We all do it from time to time, and sometimes proofreading doesn't help. It happens.

OTOH, a swine is known to be a swine, so if someone comes across as a moron, there's a good chance that...

The grammar doesn't bother me so much as the bad (or total lack of) puncuation does.

And yeah, the "learn me" thing is getting a little old already....

I think I should clarify (not to you FastEddie), as I just realized that I didn't make my point clear in the first post. I am referring to all the "Learn me" titles, not grammar in general. Sorry.

Compared with most automotive boards, this place reads like the English department chat room at a major university. Intentional misspellings drive me nuts however. Every time I visit my in-laws I want to firebomb the sign that says "Crystyl Springs" I suppose that was an agreeable alternative to the first version - "Rape the Language Gorge"

I also wouldn’t mind seeing “Learn me about ----“ done away with.

I have probably been guilty of using "learn me" in a title. But I consider this to be a case of tired humor not bad grammar. I agree ... the joke is old let's move on.

I do have a problem with the your / you're, their/ there thing. I can see how some might not be able to hear the difference, but for Pete sakes, this is your (not you're) primary language, pay attention! The one that gets me is our / are ! If you can't tell the difference between these two words, get the grits out of your ears!

Balderdash to you, sir! They are currently on the stamps at your local Post Office. That makes them more real then a vast majority of people.

Um, Hank Azaria, Yeardley Smith, Julie Kavner and the rest of them are quite real.

People saying they are crazy because the want to swap in some big motor in a tiny car also bug me. Your not crazy, your just like the rest of us!

Yes, we all should know the difference between to/too/two-there/their/they're etc., but there are alot...alot of grammatically challenged people that are pure genius when it comes to advice, whether it's mechanical or in life.They just can't spell or type.

Yeah.... out here, the second would be:

"Th'ar' 'ar' some ducks 'ar' th'ar'"
