He calls it a v6? Still seems like a bargain. I hear the sixes are better than the v8 for reliability. Do it.
Those rank VERY high on my "super sweet luxury cars to own" list. There's something special about a Jaguar.
Assuming you're comfortable with everything that's been said here and other places (and for $2500 why wouldn't you be), take cash if you can. He says "minimally negotiable" and you want him to come down a bit more than 10%. Cash talks.

That thread is about the V8 cars it seems, which I have heard are a different animal - timing chain and transmission issues. Not much info on the boosted I6...but, yes, I would intend to wave $2500 in his face.
From the research I did when I was looking at X300 cars a while back, the biggest issues with these cars are MAF sensors and Transmissions, however if it was maintained properly, the trans shouldn't be an issue.
I'd say do it. The worst is the trans has to be rebuilt in the future. $2500 is a bargain for the XJR and it is one of the last years for the Inline 6.
The XJ6R is one of my dream cars. IIRC the heater motor can occasionally have problems and the power tilt steering motor can go out.
Buy it, I would love to have one. That and a Saab 9-5 (like I posted about a while ago) are probably my most favorite DD type cars (at least as far as I know without having driven either one).
