Looks like I missed one more thing when I initially looked at the car - the heater blower only works on max, none of the intermediate settings work. At least it allowed me to verify that my wife won't have to worry about getting cold if she wants to drive it on a crisp winter's day.
That's an easy fix. The resistor is right under the glove box. Also, if there's ever smoke coming from your dash, turn off the fan and look there first. They have a tendency to melt the connector plug.

Thanks - I suspected either the switch or the resistor pack. Looks like I got more fiddling to do on it on the weekend. At least these aren't exactly complicated vehicles.
Guess I should open a build thread, which will be forthcoming in the next few days.
Anyway, I took the Jeep out for a spin a couple of weeks ago, only to discover that the front brakes were binding badly. Like, one of them actually smoking lightly and the other one hissing nicely when it got into contact with water. Oops. Especially when Oops is relatively out in the sticks:
So this weekend, we assumed the "Jeep position" after kicking out the S2k into the carport:
Front brakes don't look so hot, the rear rotors and pads don't either.
A full complement of rotors and pads should arrive tomorrow, all I need to do is source some calipers and caliper bolts. For some odd reason the usual VatoZone suspects around here have the calipers in stock but not the bolts. Go figure.
