Specifically referring to this-
junky trailer I might buy
The seller has asked for an offer, and I threw an admittedly absurd one out... and he accepted on the condition that I pick it up no later than tomorrow. It's almost exactly what I'm looking for, but needs some TLC and steel- both of which I have the means to do pretty easily. The frame is super solid, but I know nothing about this type of torsion axle, which is what it's being advertised as. The axles are coupled, but it looks like they are rubber bushings rather than springs or bars. Not super fond of mobile home wheels or axles, but I can't be super picky at this price... unless this style of 'torsion axle' is complete junk and I need to run far, far away.
Does this look familiar to anyone at all? Any advice would be appreciated.
Buy it. The torsion axles are pretty trouble free, and if they turn out to be complete junk, new ones are not terribly spendy.
Mine has 3500 lb axles, and they work great. Best thing, they tend to jerk and buck less, because the two axles are not interconnected. That makes hitch height a bit more important, though.

In Canada Princess Auto has replacements cheap so I would guess in the US HF has them. As noted above they are cheap to replace and also the trailers tend to sit lower.
That looks a lot like a spring equalizer between the tires to me.
If it has torsions, it may have originally had springs. If so, personally I'd go back to them before I ran a set of torsion axles. I have never pulled a set I liked. Too much bounce and too stiff for most loads IMHO.
As for the trailer, buy it. It looks like a pretty good one to me.

Be aware those are Dexter axles with Dexstar wheels. 14.5 rims.
A pain to find tires cheap for and only come in soft bias ply so if you hall every weekend in the summer in New England you be looking for tires every spring. BTDT.
Welp, I slept on it a bunch and went in a slightly different direction-

24' + 2' V. Workbench in front. I figure with the added $, I can offset it with Ramen noodles, Natty Light, and not having to rent hotel rooms at race tracks anymore... It's so... big.
Nice choice, should work out for you.

Dang, rent it out on AirBnB between races! Nice score.
I have to figure out how to get 10 year old sun-baked decals off of metal now. Those things are on there HARD.

I know where you can get some septic service stickers to cover them up.
