Ok I'm sitting here looking at all my options for the engine for the Olds and I have been pondering fuel injection for a few days. The TPI for sale is kind encouraging the thought process at the moment.
The engine I have lined up is an early 70's 4 bolt Chevy (355) with same era Z28 heads on it. Could a TPI manifold bolt up to that setup? What sort of problems would I be looking at?
I would assume best bet on the management would be to use a MS setup and a plug and play wiring harness of some sort. I'm assuming I would also need fuel pump and new fuel lines. Anything else I am missing?
What kind of modifications can/should be done to a TPI setup? What is the max potential of a modified TPI? What are its downsides?
I thought you had questions about Formula 1. Sorry, I'll just keep scrolling down...
i kept wondering when he was going to ask about forced induction.

Well that is actually one of the reasons I was thinking about going to injection. I would like to get the basics of building a decent performing fuel injected V8 then eventually build a forced induction engine for another project I'm thinking about picking up ('77 Camaro up the street).
TPI is a decent sysem in my opinion, if you leave it alone. There are places with ready to go harnesses and so on. I think 300hp is the best you'll see from a fairly stock set up. Work on your heads and cam. TPI is designed for low end torque, so don't expect the world past 5,000. The best L98 350 was 255 and GM got 275 from the 1992 special edtion Camaro thet planned, but didn't produce. Lots of stuff is made for these systems, but it gets expensive and fussy to tune.
