I had 80 Aspen for a short while (6 months). The car was in very nice shape and was owned by little old lady. It had about 130,000 miles and required needed nothing until the auto trans went. Got 20mpg around town. Never took it on a highway trip. It was slow but had decent grunt. An effortless slow similar to a diesel. Even though it was a 1980 it felt like I was driving something from the 60's or 70's.

A rebuilt trans was going to run about $1000-$1500 so I sold it. I wish had kept it and dropped in a 5.3/auto combo as it would have been cheaper than rebuilding the trans.

My mom told me back in the early 1980's about a guy with super high mileage on a bland Duster. If I could get past my ego these slant 6 engines go forever.

I guess my accord isn't any more lamer than that Duster.
